In his three terms as mayor, LaGuardia’s massive infrastructure program made New York the first modern American city. Among his contributions:

  • Producing over 40 parks and green spaces
  • Structuring miles of parkways
  • Securing public housing projects
  • Building the Lincoln, Brooklyn-Battery, and Queens-Midtown Tunnels
  • Forming the East & West Side Highways
  • Constructing the Triborough Bridge
  • Creating LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports
  • Establishing a unified subway system
